a comic about Voyageurs, & AI
Maybe I'm actually a beaver.

Whew, back from MANY TRAVEL!
My youngest and I went to Kansas. (Lawrence.) Then Minnesota (Convergence, Snake Discovery Zoo, and the Betsy-Tacy houses in Mankato.) Then even northerner Minnesota, way up at the Canada border to Voyageurs National Park. Okay, the woods are deffo full of bugs. But the water is GORGEOUS.
We went on a really cool historical re-enactment canoe ride where we learned about the French fur traders (the Voyageurs) and I tried to write you a comic about it:

(As you can see, I hadn't figured out the best way to spell HWAH yet to get the point across.)
Anyway. Convergence is a truly lovely, friendly con and if you live anywhere nearish I would check it out. Snake Discovery Zoo has a YouTube channel my 11yo is obsessed with, so it was PACKED but my 11yo adored it (and got to meet the lovely person who runs it) and apparently it totally lived up to expectations.
No lie, I have come back feeling a bit despondent about the mushification of everything. (Yes, 2025 has a much longer list than JUST that. But that's on my mind today.)
Adapt or die! But how much do I want to adapt, especially to be part of a thing that stole my own stories? Maybe I'm not a Voyageur in this story. Maybe I'm actually a beaver. Crisp air, open water, lots of sticks. It's a good life, till you become a hat. Worse things than being a hat, right? Maybe somebody will use me to hold the corn mush.

ps I'll write something less depressing next letter I swear!
