a last weekend at the coast
Really the main issue was that 14yo wanted to talk about skinwalkers and 11yo did NOT want to talk about skinwalkers.

Which makes it sound like it's the end of summer, and it ain't, but it IS the end of my oldest kiddo's time in middle school.

AND simultaneously the end of my youngest's time in elementary. We've been at our beloved elementary for 9 years (minus some breaks for Covid, lolsob) and that really feels like the end of an era. I do feel like the family community around grade school is different--you see all the kids and parents (and teachers) much more regularly because you're all there so much.
Anyway, the coast was lovely and the kids didn't bicker the whole drive there and back (??!!) Minor miracle. Really the main issue was that 14yo wanted to talk about skinwalkers and 11yo did NOT want to talk about skinwalkers. Otherwise, pretty smooth sailing.
My plan this week is to write some, paint some, and rescue the front steps from the blackberry vines so we can continue to receive mail. Good luck to you and your endeavors!
